Aftermarket fuel pump options?

My daughters 92 died yesterday , towed it home. Fuel problem. With 226k, I will be replacing the relay and fuel pump as PM, unless I find a problem in the modulator/resistor or something obvious. After dying while driving (made it 5 miles) and not starting for an hour and a half, it fired right up after coming off the flatbed :(
My questions, anyone try the Airtex pump sold by Advance Auto? Is the Walbro 255l noisey? Any other pump that I am not aware of?
Also, big thanks to Tom (OT) and John Hoffman (SVXCESS) for moral support and good advice while I was waiting for tow truck!

Re: Aftermarket fuel pump options?

I've had a Walbro for maybe seven years:confused:, and they seem to my ears as quiet as the stock pump.
Ray at Turbo Tech Tuning just sold me one for about $75.00
for the Jade Project.
He has not called me back yet to get the CC#, so I do not have the exact price.:o

Hi Tom!
That sounds like a great price, was that for the kit or just pump?

I have a used generic brand 255lph fuel pump if you want.. It was working great when i took it out and the only reason I did take it out was to put my walbro in. Had I known that I already had a 255lph fuel pump in the car I would have left it in. You want it?

I just spoke to Ray.
He can sell US just the Walbro 255 pump for $75.00 plus $6.00 shipping.
Mention my name as the are usually $99.00 plus shipping.;)

He is a great guy to deal with!
I've bought & got, cluthes, WRX gauges, WRX exhausts, rebuilt engines, flywheels, widebands, etc.from him!

Hi all,
Just a followup, ended up with the Airtex pump from Advance Auto, was listed as an exact fit. $65 after 20% off, also a fuel pump relay, $15. The exact fit was the reason I went for the Airtex instead of the Walbro. I had purchased a Airtex TPS that was identical to one purchased from 1st Subaruparts.
Well, the Airtex was not an exact fit at all. I would have bought the Walbro had I known. By the time I discovered that it was too late, I went ahead and installed it. Thank God for this group, I referred many times to installation tips and especially the pictures on this board.
The god news, I have put almost 900 miles on car without a problem, I guess it was the fuel pump or relay after all...

Update. The Airtex fuel pump failed, 6 month, 8000 miles. 1 yr. warranty. Going to try to get refund...buy Walbro...if it didnt advertise "exact fit" I would have bought the Walbro to start with...

Thanks for sharing the information. My fuel pump makes an awful racket and I am starting to suspect it is on the way out.

Re: Aftermarket fuel pump options?

The Airtex had been making noise recently, immediately after starting. NAPA website says Bosch is the OEM. Anyone know for sure?
