Any SVX specialists near Chicago?

Hello, can anyone recommend a honest, reasonable (ha-ha!) mechanic in the Chicagoland area that knows how to work on the SVX?
Thanks.

I live in the Chicago area (NW suburbs). But i just got my SVX and havent had anything wrong with it yet (except a MAJOR squeaking of the brakes) I took it to the Subaru dealer in Arlington Heights to get the brakes looked at, but ended up taking it to Merlin's to get the work done. Ill post here if i have anything else go wrong. *knocks on wood* And where i took it. But so far havent had the need to find someone. If you find someone who knows some stuff, come post here again, ill be happy to have someone who knows about it around.

What do you need on your SVX. I know guys that can work on the SVX on different stuff. Let me know. I used to live on Lake Shore Drive but now I am in wheeling.

Hey Sera, im in Arlington Heights, maybe we could organize a small Chicago-land mini-meet. Except it might be kind of embarasing if i come rolling in, attempt to stop, and deafen everyone around with my brakes. Anyone got any ideas on how to stop them from screeching? (short of buying new rotors) I've had the rotors machined and the pads de-glazed, but that only helped for a week or so. Pretty embarasing when you pull up to someone who's looking at your car and you come to a screeching halt (pun intended).

just a fact of svx life.

i have heard that people have less squeaking from OEM pads. i personally have carbon fiber pads and very little noise.

OEM stuff seems less likely to squeal, in my experience. I put Raybestos pads and rotors on my car and have not been happy. The car stops just fine, but the noise is irritating sometimes. Not a lot of squealing - just a little squeak here and there.

Where in Arlington Heights are you at? I live in Wolf and Hintz at the foxboro complex. I have the red svx. There is another guy here with the 92 parl. I left him a couple of notes but no response from him. If you see a red svx with side repeater lights, just stop me. Hopefully the red would get out of my hands soon.

Anyway, I really like the schaumberg subaru - the guys on Higgins, just after the Nissan dealer in hoffman's estates. The parts manager -- creig is great.

i live near St. James church, by St. Viator's school. Closest big roads would be Euclid & A.H. Road. I live on Douglas at the top of the hill inbetween Oakton and Euclid. My SVX is normally parked outside (damn parents :p ) Stop by some time.

We should do lunch sometime. I have been really busy lately though but I will keep you posted.
