Leather Treatment
 

hey what do you guys recomend to treat the leather interior? What about to clean the sued?

This is the first car that I have had with leather. Heck this is the first car I had without a big gapping hole in the drivers seat.:p

Lexol makes some good leather treatment products. They make a cleaner and a conditioner. Make sure you use both. I have no idea what to use on suede

For the faux-suede try Resolve Carpet Cleaner. Follow directions & blot with clean terry-cloth towel. Don't scrub too hard or it may pill the suede. Worked well for me.

i have been using Maguire's leather treater on mine. it makes it shinney and real smooth and it is really easy to use.

I also use Meguiar's products for the leather - as a matter of fact, I use their products for everything on or in the car.

As for the suede, the best way to clean it is to not get it dirty in the first place. It will absolutely, positively pill if you scrub it. I speak from experience.

I have probably tried 15 different leather conditioners and cleaners... Lexol is my favorite in both areas.

Try the seude cleaning kit made by timberland for the ecsaine. It's made for shoes, but i've seen it in action, and it works wonders in the svx.

i use eagle one cleaner and conditioner, it works good and is pretty easy to put on, just time consuming. I think that i got it at Napa.

I've got an Eagle One cleaning kit but I've been to scared to try anything on the faux-suede. I may get adventurous now.

Okay, you guys will think I'm bonkers, but, I use Armor-All LEATHER cleaner/conditioner on my seats. It does a decent job. I'll probably move up to Maguiar's once I'm out of the Armor-All.

As for the faux suede, the owner's manual actually calls for a mixture of warm water and Woolite (although they don't call it by name), wiped on (notice, wiped, not scrubbed) and then, patted dry with a clean cloth. I have used the Kiwi suede cleaner with good results also (Available at Wal-Mart et al in the Shoe department).

Y'all can take this as friendly advice and do with it what ya want... :)

Around the shop we 'occasionally' have 'mysterious' spots appear on upholstery, carpets, etc. (NOT LEATHER!) and have found that the best 'tool' is a can of generic 'brake-clean' (not carb-clean, it leaves a residue.) Spray a small spot on a clean rag and dab/swipe towards the center of the stain. ALWAYS test on an inconspicuous area first! (gee, did I spell that right? :) )(am I being conspicuous? ;))

For larger areas try the previously mentioned cleaners.

Oh, another thing. On the headliner, lighter fluid (or straight naptha, if you can get it) does a good job of taking out stains there.
