New Exhaust?

Well this weekend I backed into a bush and the exhaust fell out from the cat-back. It sounded pretty good before I put it back in. (Why the hell is it clamped and not welded?) Anyway, this brought to my attention how quiet the car is. I can't get too crazy since there are emissions in Denver, but any suggestions for good sounding exhaust at a resonable price? Just cat-back

I was thinking about getting rid of the giant muffler and switching to two independent mufflers instead. Any pros or cons with doing this?

Cat-back systems will not significantly changes emissions, so no worries there. If you are willing to let an exhaust shop assemble pieces for you, then there are many options available for exhaust systems.

Dual mufflers are definitely possible. See my locker for pics "custom exhaust 2004". I'm using the Borla Pro XS model 40363. Its a perfect fit in the factory muffler location. If you want more of the V-8 sound, you could try some Flowmaster mufflers. I'd suggest using a different y-pipe than what I used. If I could do it again, I'd go with the Flowmaster Y200250 y-pipe (two 2" and one 2.5"). It would flow more nicely than the Magnaflow one that I used.

It would be a good idea to put a tube muffler in the main pipe in about the location of the factory pre-muffler to help with sound control. The Magnaflow 10426 (2.5" inlet/outlet) is a great choice.

The main pipe can be made from 2.5" tubing and the piping at the mufflers can be 2" or 2.25" tubing. Mandrel bent tubing is always better than crush bends, but only a few muffler shops do mandrel bends.
