Henry, the alarm passively arms with the key. If you lock the door with the key, with the security system on, it will arm passively. Unfortunately, Subaru opted to "upgrade" the car to NOT passively arm when you simply leave the car. The 92's once had this feature but, a "recall" to "upgrade" the alarm system, took it out. At any rate, you should receive a discount on your insurance for having a FACTORY INSTALLED SECURITY SYSTEM.
