Food for thought

I saw on Google news today that AOpen has created a mini-pc that is 6" square by 2" deep. Seems to me this would make for the perfect car PC and may even fit inside the double-DIN cage making for a complete and invisible install in the SVX dash. I was also unaware that Apple released a Mini-Mac with the same dimensions earlier this year. Either one would be great to use in an automotive application. Here's a link: AOpen Mini PC

If i wasn't a cheap bastard and getting a used laptop for 50$ from my friend, i think that mac-mini would be pimp. I think it'd be kind of nice to be able to have a computer that you could unplug and take with you as if it were a laptop, or extra harddrive.

I'm sure these will put a strain on the "carputer" industry seeing as how they're both smaller and seem to be about as capable if not more so. This will probably lead to some interesting in car entertainment/engine management installs.

yes ideed. i have pondered using a nano itx board to bould a carputer for some time. but im lazy and i just got my liquid cooled rig working the way i like it. my bigest hurdle would be the software. im a hardware guy so i have no idea what os would be best to run. that and tuch lcds are out of my budget. maybe i could run a liquid cooled system and mod a tranny cooler to cool the cpu. have a rooling frag rig.
