now the economy has gone bad....

I've gotten stuck into the 7/8ths SVX. [ crash damaged]

Pretty close to pulling the engine

- just like to check - the engine to transmission/flywheel area

- is it what looks like 2 long bolts at the top
- 2 dowels in the middle
- 2 studs/nuts on the bottom.

can't seam to get a good look in there atm.

Matt or anyone do a engine pull recently?

cheers
bruce

Yes, there are 2 bolts to be removed on top (one through the starter) and 2 nuts on the bottom. Then in the middle of each side are the 2 alignment dowels.:)

I concur with Nate. There are also four 12mm bolts that hold the torque converter to the flexplate. Access hole is on the passenger side of the top of the bellhousing, on the engine side, there is a rubber plug. They are a bit of a biznatch to get to, one of those funky wrenches with like a wobbly socket attached to the end work great for breaking those loose, I used a snap-on 10x12mm straight wrench to get mine.

Sorry Bruce just saw this,

I've got getting the rally car engine out down to a fine art... can drive it in and remove the engine in about 2 hours by myself, without rushing.

But I don't have a flex plate to remove!!

Matt
