Why???????

I noticed in the how 2's this Throttle Body Bypass Mod.

Take the coolant hoses off both sides of the Throttle Body and fasten them together???????????/

Again, why?????
anyone have a clue?

Thanks,
Keith

I would imagine it's so the coolant still flows in the same path, but bypasses the throttle body.

Winner.

I don't know how much of a difference it makes, though. Mine's as-was.

The theory is, that the coolant heats the TB's. This actually does help a couple things. First, it prevents icing in the coldest extremes, second it helps suspend the fuel in the airstream just slightly better. Not for better performance, but better emisions.

There is so much debate over wether this actually makes a difference. Not just here either. My 2bits is, if you're having slight detonation problems, bypassing it is a cheaper alternative to increasing octane. Also, if you've bumped the compresion, or are running mild boost, this will help cool the air charge. I did the bypass on a 5.0 mustang & if it gave me any results, it was the ability to add a degree or two of timing before detonation occurred.

BTW when setting a disty I start with the factory setting, then bump it up until detonation occurs, then step back one notch.
