Door window motor gears stripped?
On motoring my drivers window up on the auto-up function, there was a pop, then a pop pop pop at maximum up. Window would motor down seemingly normally at first, but pop pop pop sound when trying to raise. Was able to raise the window manually while working the switch and the window stays up ok.
I disassembled the door, and the popping seems to be occurring at the motor/regulator pulley interface. cables are in place on the pulley and the plastic sleeve is ok I think. I am envisioning a broken or striped tooth on a worm and ring gear. Anyone been through this? Have advice? This is in a 92 I have had since new. Thanks. Bill Z |

It does sound like a bad motor, but make sure nothing has worked loose, before getting the new motor.

Re: Door window motor gears stripped?
Thanks.
I think I purchased the last available window motor and regulator in the US. Used. None available new. This may be the reason I ultimately have to part with the car. Hopefully the ordered part will fix the problem. Bill Z |

Regulator replaced. You can see the cracked white plastic socket in the picture.
