Re: A little video I made
Very classy!
You've got a good eye for shots, some of those look like they could have come from a commercial. Very smooth camera work too! The first couple of shots I thought you must have just been scrolling a still photo until I could see the depth of field changing on the interior and coming into the car through the window. Awesome stuff! So how DID you get such smooth shots, especially with modern cameras being so small and light? In your desciption you mention a homemade "slider"? I also appreciate a couple of the tricks like the seatbelt going by itself and the window coming up. While both might be a tad "quick" and interupt the slower, smoother feel of the rest of the video, they were still cool and show the extra effort to get the right shot. Great job, looking forward to more! (sorry for geeking out, I haven't made a video for years but I love this stuff!) |
Re: A little video I made
I always geek out! Recording video has been a passion of mine since I was like ten years old. My whole childhood involved videos. The rig I made was just some plywood with a rail on it to act as a track, kind of like the car rides at amusement parks where you can't steer off the track. The whole thing was just resting on a cheap tripod I had lying around. I plan on adding another tripod to the end of it to make it more stable, because if there is any wind, it makes the shots shake a little. The cart was about $25 on ebay, so the whole thing if you bought the cart and tripod would be around $50. Since I already had the cart and tripod, it was like $15.

Re: A little video I made
Great Job!
When I first saw it, it reminded me of the first 60 seconds of the "Our New Look" video done 20 years ago. I wished there was more... and now there is! Congratulations! As a former Art Director, I like yours much better from the artistic point of view. Less jarring and stays on course. In the end, it won't be the performance of our cars that will be remembered, but the styling. . |

Beautiful car, beautiful video.
When you get a chance, check out http://moveyourcamera.com It was started by a real car guy. He is one of the editors of Grassroots Motorsports. In addition to selling the complete units, he also has build instructions for those folks with tools and the ability to use them. |

Re: A little video I made
Nice work man. Are you doing DSLR video or camcorder at 24p?
|
Re: A little video I made
It's DSLR at 30fps, but I slowed each clip down manually because some needed to be faster/slower than others. I'd say they're all between 23-27fps, except the very last shot. That's at like 2fps, just edited with optical flow to make it smooth as butter ;)
