Finally bought one of my dream cars...

I've haven't been on here in a while, but for those that remember me, I used to own a red '96 SVX-L which I sold in 2006 to Myxlplyx. Since then I've owned a WRX and RX-8 until finally in 2014 I decided to get one of my 'realistic' dream cars.

She just got off the transporter from Cali. I should take delivery Wednesday...

Chike!

You're still alive! We were starting to wonder! :D

Did you sell the RX-8 before buying the EVO? Going to autoX it?

Bill

I haven't been bitten by the Evo bug for the same reason I haven't been bitten by the VW one. Just not enough money for those.... yet ;)

But even I have to admire that. Sharp looking, mate. Enjoy!

So I've heard lol.

Though I would love a Subaru powered original VW bug at some point. Just for the laughs :)

For a real laugh put a 350 V8 in the backseat like my brother did in the sixties. He said it started to literally fly at over 100 mph.

I said I wanted to laugh, not end my life by becoming one with nature when a tree stops me

Though that would be fun... :D

Hey Alan!

It's a 2013 with 4,300 miles. I really wanted one in cosmic blue, and was going to buy one new in this color, but this lightly used gem popped up at Carmax in Cali in the color I wanted - so I had it transferred.

Nice car. What year and model did you go with?

Bill,

Yup I'm still around. Just working hard. I sold the RX-8 2 years ago, and I've been daily driving a 2010 Lancer Sportback GTS ever since. I just gave that car to my step-daughter who's graduating from college this year, so it was the perfect time to upgrade to something nice.

I doubt this car will see much autocross action - if any at all. I haven't dogged cones in over 2.5 years now. I've taken up tennis again and I'm playing at the semi-pro (Open) level with the USTA. Currently ranked in singles and doubles in the Mid-Atlantic.

2008 MR, bought it almost 3 years ago with 7400 miles on it. LOVE IT! just have a Cobb Stage 1 and Cobb SF intake - nothing too extreme, its my daily driver.

only advice i can think of right now is:

-check the fuel pump (and 1 or two) other relays. you may be good with a 2013, but i'm not sure when Mitsu updated them to the recommended ones, but the old ones can fail (in cold weather?) and cause some grief/damage... search for the correct (black) ones and check yours. i believe some 2013's did need to be changed.

- ziptie the fuel pressure regulator hose so it doesn't come off

- the ACD Hydraulic pump ($$$) can fail due to corrosion if you drive on salted roads. hit it with some plastidip or anti corrosive type spray (located near rear passenger wheel)..

- get some mudflaps or you'll sandblast the paint on the wide wheel arches

- your on your own with the 5-speed - i think there is a recall for something, not sure what years affected.

i think you're going to love it! the acceleration can still scare the crap out of me sometimes. :D

Thanks for the great tips Alan. I'll look into each of these points and take the necessary corrective action.

The car was finally ready today and I picked her up at lunchtime. I'm totally in love with the handling. The stock seats are pure sex - they grip you like a glove in turns. I'll be holding onto this car for a while. :D

sweet!

YOU shouldn't have a problem, but i had to put longer bolts in and shim the seats up a little - they were too low for me and with no height adjustment ....

otherwise i love them. it feels weird driving in other cars now without the nice Recaros "hugging" you.

i never thought i'd even own a Mitsubishi, but now i think its in the top two best cars i've owned.

any plans for mods?

Interesting. I would potentially go the other way with my seats if I could adjust the height. I feel they are a little too high, and I would lower them another 1/2" to get in just the right position for me.

I have about $600 in mod money my wife will let me spend since my bday was last month. Since this car isn't for autocross, I'm thinking of the Cobb stage 1 package which gives you a Cobb AP and high flow replacement air filter.

Beyond that I'll probably get an exhaust around Xmas, and some 18x9.5 bronze wheels sometime in the future.

Just soaking up the Mitsu goodness at the moment!

i have Cobb stage 1 and Cobb SF intake - very fast and plenty of power for me. Cobb now says intake not needed unless you're doing BIG hp, but its reusable and sounds cool, so there's that. i'm sticking with stock exhaust - had loud exhaust cars before, but i'm old now and done with that.

BTW, do you have the Rockford Fosgate audio?

Cobb has a new Stage 1 package for their v3 AP that uses a drop-in filter (not the SF intake):

I have the Sight & Sound package which gets the RF audio along with HID's! Btw, I installed my first mod today - zip-tied fuel pressure regulator hose!
