Check out my new baby!

I built this myself from the ground up!

For all of you geeks out there heres the specs...

ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition
AMD 64x2 dual core 2.2ghz (Custom Cooling)
2 Gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800
Dual NVidia 7600GS Extreme PCI-E Video Cards 256mb ram a piece (Custom cooling)
Dual Western Digital SATA 3.0gb/s 320gb Hard drives
Windows XP Professional
Dual DVD-RW Lightscribe drives
Logitech Z-5450 digital 5.1 surround sound
Sceptre 20.1" widscreen lcd monitor
Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse

Theres more I could go into... but this isnt a computer tech forum :p

All in all, the total cost for the whole setup was about $2600, give or take a few $$, but not by much. Just got it all set up tonight, and it just tears up the games Ive thrown at it... Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion is the most demanding game I have tried so far, and it runs everything on maxed out settings!

Only thing in the back of my head.... for $2600 I could have bought a replacement SVX

just think, in 6 months you could have that same setup for $800! :D

pretty slick, and nice job. i really want a new computy, but i'm waiting until Vista is out so i don't have to install it on top of XP.

I'm hoping the monitor was the bulk of that price. :|

Good grief.

Lookes nice, though. No reason it shouldn't last you a good 5 years or so.

I heard that game Elder scrolls kicks major arse. I want to get it...but my computer no worky and I'm not sure they make it for PS2.

Manarius 10-12-2006 07:55 AM

2600 eh, for someone else building it, that's not too bad of a price - way out of my range though.

With that kind of money, why didn't you invest in water cooling? Air is so 20 years ago.

mysvxrocks 10-12-2006 08:04 AM

The monitor was like $300 as were the speakers... the rest went into the guts. I know in 6 months it will be outdated, but thats what upgrades are for :D The elder scrolls game is out for x-box 360 and computer only... at least for now, who knows about the future. Ive been without a computer for like 8 weeks because of the price, I ordered this in parts, and lust got the last order. So Im having fun with it, the only part that sucks is getting all the drivers to work..... I was looking at watercooling, but I dont want to run the chance of a line busting or something... I can get it in the future however, since my chassis is designed to have watercooling. I wanted xp for now, but only because I dont know what games... if any can be plaed with vista, I do have it on DVD (RC1) incase I want to install it.... we'll see.

Your CPU Heatsink/fan makes me drool.

mysvxrocks 10-12-2006 09:12 AM

Ah yes, it is a beefy zalman, lol. Came with a price too though, like $60... but I shouldnt have a problem with overheating  The video cards have aftermarket zalman fans too... I just couldnt live with those dinky things that came on them...

msvx95 10-12-2006 09:50 AM

what's your address so I can come over and "borrow" it...LOL
My computer I pretty much tossed out the window since it keeps freezing and shutting down on me...this is after I replaced my motherboard and power supply...monitor I didn't feel like cleaning up glass so it's still in one piece.

Looks nice but so many things I would have done different.

The main thing that bugs me are the LED fans. You would never run the computer with the case on the desk due to the glare on the monitor. On the floor no one would see it.

I just put together a Core 2 Duo system for a relative of mine for CAD$1000. It's using onboard video right now but has a PCIX16 slot for when he wants (can afford) to get into gaming.

mysvxrocks 10-12-2006 12:42 PM

Matt... you live in Ohio, and I live in Washington... that would be a long borrow  and earthworm... ive kinda looked into core 2 duo and ill admit that they are awesome systems, but Im going to be doing a lot of gaming, and its proven that amd kicks intels arse when it comes to games. Theres actually cold cathod lights in the case too, and they're brighter than the LED fans... and I figure.. if you spend over 2g on it, Id rather see it, and whats in it, than have it on the floor... thats just my opinion. the glare doesnt bother me too much.

I wish that was the case as I'm an AMD fan. Compare benchmarks between an AMD 4200 (AM2) and a Conroe E6300 and I'm sure you'll find the Conroe always wins.

tomshardware.com has a good CPU comparison chart but is missing the E6300.

Manarius 10-12-2006 03:24 PM

C2D is currently wiping the floor with AMD. Like, literally, thrashing them.

mysvxrocks 10-12-2006 04:54 PM

Just watch... sometime soon, AMD will come out with a better one.. and then :p :p

Earthworm 10-12-2006 04:56 PM

Hopefully their "4x4" will do just that.
