ok on the svxs with awd is it possible not to screw with the awd by using 17in wheels but 7.5in in the front wide and 8in wide in the rear or would they need to match???second thing is ok i know offset has to be such and such #s but what is offset how can i measure this?? please forgive me for being not so smart here (used the search button and got soo many posts on offset but i still didnt find my q) any help would be nice

Wheel offset does not affect the lifetime of the AWD system. The offset will mainly affect handling. The area of concern for the AWD is matching the rolling circumference of the front and rear wheels. If you go with different width rims/tires front and rear, you need to match the rolling circumference as best as possible. I think the absolute maximum allowable difference is something like 0.2%.
