Look for a switch guys

I would LOVE it if somebody had the power mode switch that the japanese SVXi had, but that's not practical. So, does anyone have a shift-lock switch they'd give/sell to me? i'm just gonna put that where the power mode switch would go.

I'll check and see next time I'm looking through stuff.

Just looking at the switch gear on mine, with a JDM Power switch, and you should be aware that: the power switch is a locking switch (also lit at night) while the shift lock button is not, and: the lock switch also acts as a mechanical lever to unlock the safety mechanism in the shifter, not as the electrical on/off locking switch that you want. Keep feelers out for the correct switch from JDM market.

no, i understand. what i would do is take someone's unwanted shift-lock switch (say, they converted to a manual) and trim it down a little and mount it to a push button switch. i know it wouldn't light up (easily ;)) but it would look nice and stock.

This is a possibility.

.

Back in 2003, Mike Novosel "nubs" did a similar setup, using the shift lock button and a micro-switch, to operate his garage door opener. Should not be that difficult to make it work with a PWR switch.

Of course there are other options. This switch operates my secondary alarm indicators and my LED grille light. Easy access with my thumb. Looks factory.

Personally, I would do the simplest solution, based upon the high-beam switches mounted on the floor of the older '50 and '60 cars.

Whenever you need the PWR mode, just depress it with your left foot to activate, press again to return to normal. An LED indicator could be wired it to light when it's engaged.

No holes to drill or modifications. Easy wiring from the TCU. Completely invisible and removable.

Re: Look for a switch guys

The German SVXs have two switches for this purpose. Electrical so almost plug and play.

On for the Manual control and one for the power antenna.

In fact, the button of the side of the gear selector lets you choose between ECON (normal) and POWER.

Maybe some of our European members can get a part number...
