going to Japan in December...

Hey Folks,

In December, I'm going to Japan on business travel. I will be first in the Tokyo/Yokohama area, and then later, in Kyoto followed by Sendai. I will have a bit of free time here and there. If anyone wants any small parts from Japan, I'd be willing to try to get them for you if you tell me exactly what you want and where I can get it. Personally, I'm going to try to visit the place that sells the remapped ECU. Its apparently in Yokohama or Shizuoka which is not far from Yokohama.

How about some photos of JDM SVXs?

I will definitely be keeping my eye out for that! :-) When I was living in Japan, I was always admiring all the non-US cars over there. That's when I got hooked on the Skyline. I should probably bring a few pictures of my ride, so if I encounter an SVX, I may be able to convince the owner that I'm an SVX fanatic and therefore should let me take their SVX out for a spin. :-))

It is a pity you weren't coming over earlier as the Japanese SVX Owners Club will be having their 'yearly get-together' at the Subaru factory at the beginning of November.

If you have any spare time, feel free to come and visit Gunma, the home of the 'Alcyone SVX'. Subaru have just opened a flash new 'Visitor Center' at their main factory, featuring significant models in their history but no SVX though!:(

I was looking at Gunma on the map earlier today. Its not too far from Tokyo. I may try to get up there if I get bored with Tokyo/Yokohama. I would guess there is a train from Tokyo-eki?

You have two options;

1. Shinkansen (Bullet train) from Tokyo Station to Takasaki (the only Shinkansen stop in Gunma). Takes about 35 minutes but costs US$40.

2. Takasaki-sen which is the ordinary train and leaves from Ueno Station (about 3 stations north from Tokyo). Takes about 90 minutes and only costs US$12.

I live in Takasaki and the Subaru factory is in Ota City which is about 70 minutes by car from my place.

If you see any Alcyones on the side of the road, could you pry off the hood emblem and send it to me?:)

You could leave a US one in its place, so they might be less pissed off.
