Still haveing some problems

Ok, I had some exhost clogged up problems, and I got that fixed..

NOW Im having the dreaded TRANSMISSION problem...

I ran the diagnostics for the transmission where you do all the funky stuff, and stand on your head while you turn the ignition on and off, while juggeling balls, and rubbing your tummy.. and the power light is supposed to flash between 11 and 33 times... well I stopped counting at 110 !.. does that mean there is nothing wrong.. or somthing else wrong ?

any ideas ?

thanks

A steady flashing (as opposed to one long one short, two long one short, one long three short, etc.) is an indication that there is nothing wrong "electronically." Unfortunately, the diagnostic does not tell us if something is going wrong mechanically. What, exactly, is the tranny doing (or, not doing, as the case may be)?

the tranny sometimes doesnt engage all the way (engine slips) or is goes in and out, causeing the car to kinda jult when your driving... also when you get your foot in it.. it doest like to shift into the next gear, untill you let off a bit.. then it shifts HARD into the next gear... oh and also sometimes doesnt drop down into 1st when you come to a stop, and tries to take off in 2nd gear..

but, I have another quick question.. when putting in a legasy tranny.. do you want the turbo or non-turboed tranny.. I was reading some post, and never really found the answer :)

thanks guys !
you are all a HUGE help ! :)

Sounds like your clutches (possibly planetaries) are going (would not show up on self-diag). Looks like you're in for a replacement.

Can't answer your question about the Legacy trans. Just don't let some jacka$$ sell you an SVX with a Legacy (non-turbo) autobox stuck in it.

well, Im going to look at getting my tranny rebuilt, or putting a legasy tranny in it.. probbaly which ever is cheeper... if I do go with the legasy tranny, I will keep the svx tranny around.. might be a collectors item someday :)

You're talking about a Legacy manual, right? If you do a Legacy autobox, you'll need to change your flexplate and the final drive in your rear diff (to maintain AWD). Not sure how long it will last, though. I bought my car in '99. The trans was replaced with a Legacy trans from a junked '91 (long story about how I found this out). They didn't bother to change the final drive, so the weird "shudder" I was having was actually the transfer clutch disintegrating. Still, I drove it for about a year before it went out (God knows how many miles were on the junked '91 tranny), so, I don't guess it did too bad.

Yeah I was thinking the auto-tranny out of the Legacy..

I know I would need the tranny, a new flywheel, and rear end from the legacy

I just donno, what else I would need.. and if I would need the tranny out of a "turbo" or "non turbo" legacy...

any idea ?

The one they stuck in mine was a non-turbo, but, if you got all the stuff to swap, I don't see why a turbo wouldn't work. Anybody else?

I think Im just going to keep driving it... untill something finaly breaks enough to tell exactly what the problem is.. :)

The turbo transmission would be a better match for the SVX as it has higher gearing than the non-turbo model. The turbo transmissions are difficult to locate, though.
