Basic Driving School at Pacific Raceway
Saturday Febuary 12th will be the date for the basic driving school which is a prerequisite for the performance school offered later. I looked into this briefly and the cost is $100. Includes lessons regarding
* Skidpad * Slalom * Handling Oval * Threshold Braking (braking distance) * Emergency lane change Maneuver For this price lunch is also included. What you need * 18 years+ can attend (16-17 can only attend Basic Driving School) * Valid drivers license * Clean well maintained street/race vehicle * Snell 90+ helmet (We have 13 to rent for $10.00 ea.) * Non-perforated leather gloves or Nomex racing gloves (required) * Standard three point seatbelts (racing harness preferred)' THE BAD NEWS.... I have made reservations to go snowboarding in BC the weekend this is to take place.... I'm looking into rescheduling. Ultimately, if I am not able to attend, I hope some other members take advantage of what sounds like will be a great day at the track! If you would like to look into this a bit more visist the NW Alfa Romeo club's site at: http://nwalfaclub.com/track/welcome.php ..was reading deeper into requirements.. "3-point seat belts are considered minimum. 2-point belts must be replaced by 5-point systems." this may disqualify our cars... I'm going to send the admin at registration an email and ask if the automatic seatbelts will be permitted. |
for us non-racer svxers, can we come and watch? sounds like a nwsvx meet in the making...
|
can we rent cars at the school?
Cuz I've been wanting to do this for awhile |

Well....I guess this aint california....w/ real driving schools and such.....oh well...guess I'll just save my $$$ and fly south to go to a real driving school
:p |
Airplane ticket aside, goodluck finding a driving school for under $100. (don't forget glove and helmet rentals. And you know they're gonna try to sell you photos of you while on the track too.)
On another note, I will not be able to run my car untill I do a few things that currently disqualify my vehicle. ie: Torn CV boot, bad master cylinder, and broken lug stud on rear wheel. Also, I have previously committed to going on a ski trip w/ Willow the weekend this is to take place. I'm gonna have to pull out of this one. However, as promised, all the info is provided above if anyone is still interested. |
BTW our seatbelts are accepted for track use.

Hey we should have a meet on one of the test and tune days, road coarse or dragstrip! I know i will be at pacific raceways quite a few times this year running my svx on the test and tune days. Last year I only did the drag strip a couple times, but this year i plan on doing it more. (I live about 8 min away!)

oops.....I guess I misread your posts....if our seatbest are ok, then I'd be interested in meeting. But I know my neither car can participate in this. :(
But I suppose I could rent a car and get complete coverage..... |
so what is Test and Tune?
who is here? what does it cost? does it provide training? |

You're 8 minutes away and have already done it a couple times - Sounds like you're the man to get a meet organized around this! :) And you have someone willing to help you too (Elliot)! If you guys get this going and give me all the info plenty of time ahead, I'll be glad to put a web page together, send the bulk emails, etc (the usual "official meet" stuff). Make it happen! :) PS - you won an award for 2004 at the banquet the other night, I have something for you, email or PM me your mailing address. |
I would be glad to get a meet together. I will look at all the dates this week and get back to all of you. Do we want it on a drag day or a road course day? I will start a thread on it once i get some dates together. :D
