Massive gas leak thru charcoal can & other symptoms

Well. Woke the sleeping giant from her 7-8 yr sleep in the garage. Rear brake lines were rotted. Crank sensor needed replacement.

Have had some odd squeaking sounding like it comes from fuel pump area. It's not constant though.

Car surges a bit with light throttle.

Today, car started smelling of gas. Surging became worse. Heavy throttle car ran fine.

Had a long crank time to get her going. Car died when I slowed in traffic. Long crank got her going. Had to keep revs up. Idle would be anywhere between 1k and 250.

Gas needle was dropping quick... When I got home, I found gas massively leaking from the charcoal canister in the front.

I shut the car off ans pulled the canister off just to see what would happen. Once I restarted the car, Gas poured out of the passenger side tube that went to the canister...

Where to start??

***full disclosure***
To complicate things... I did replace the fuel lines around the gas tank around 400 miles ago. I hear flipping them can cause problems... Car has run fine till now though?

You've got the fuel lines hooked up improperly on the driver side

Poo. Took that many miles to show symptoms?

I'll flip them tonight, can I run without the charcoal filter? Or should I run it saturated? I have no back up car until I get replacement.

......checking...I see two large lines and one smaller line. One of the large lines is evap? I would have thought it would be the small one..

Should I flip my two big ones?

What else could it be? As I said, 400 miles symptom free. I dropped 1/3 of a tank from this leak today in 12 miles or so.

What can I do to limp drive this car to work and back tomorrow (other then dangerously drop another 1/3 my tank along the highway)

Switching the lines did not help (car wouldn't even run past the first 2 seconds).

I switched it back to how it was before, and started the car. It fired right up, with no presence. I didn't put the canister back on, but the hoses are not leaking now.

So what else could have caused it?

Should I put this soaked canister back on? Or leave the hoses free? Or? Or?

No problem. That's the only possible way that much fuel could be in those vac lines. :)
