Where is everyone?
FIrst time back here on the forum since 2011. Things look to have changed a bit around here. Back in the day I had a '94 FWD SVX. I loved the thing, but the transmission went out and I kept having cooling issues, new radiator and hoses blowing out all the time. I sold it, but I've regretted it ever since. Anyway I just bough a '92 AWD SVX with a 5-speed swap (Forester 4.11). I’m getting shipping arranged and I cannot wait to drive an SVX again, especially with the 5-speed. It has some monster aluminum radiator in it, hopefully it keeps it cool.
Anyway, last time I was around here, a supercharger was the best thing you could do for these engines and it wasn't really that spectacular. Since 2011 I sure have seen a lot of videos of EG33's with big turbo setups in just about evertything but an SVX, so what is everyone doing with these engines these days? Is there a readily available guide of sorts for a small turbo or supercharger system, etc? Are we still doing to ECUtune thing or are folks going full replacement ECUs? If so, what is most common and works the easiest? My budget is much healthier than it was in 2011, I want to do this one up the right way. Any guidance would be appreciated! . |

Wow! Look at that old Sig! Haha! I forgot I had a donor car too, lol! My wife hated me, haha!

Re: Where is everyone?
Welcome back. Nice that you were able to get one with a 5 speed already done.

Re: Where is everyone?
I know, its pretty insane really. How is that ECUtune holding up?

Re: Where is everyone?
Not near as much posting here as "back in the day" but still easier to find answers with the search here......there are a couple highly used "Facebook" pages now...
I still run a stock motor, but to really make use of a turbo or a Supercharger, you will need to completely go thru the motor, and lower the compression, it will be an expensive undertaking. |
Re: Where is everyone?
Hi Steven,
We are all still around. We're just a lot older and slower and so are or cars. |

The chips are definitely an improvement over stock, and since you have a 5 speed it makes even more sense. |
Re: Where is everyone?
I'm still here and I don't even have an SVX. Is that an indication that there's something wrong with me?

Re: Where is everyone?
Cool. I will look up Subiechips and get some coming my way. I joined one of the Fa ebook pages and it is active, but I haven't gotten and good responses to questions so far, lol!
Anyone have a revommendation for new wheels and tires? I'm looking for something larger to keep revs down some and I like the look. What other cars have the same bolt pattern as our SVX? |
Re: Where is everyone?
Welcome back!
Sad to see you've moved away from San Antonio, but glad to see you're back in an SVX! |

Re: Where is everyone?
depending one what your power goal is stand alone is better option for some, but the chips work for others, and if your staying n/a or turbo, if turbo I would go stand alone, for sure. in fact that is my plan save up for a stand alone then put a turbo together
as to wheels there are hundreds, of not thousands of choices, the 5x114.3 is the most widely used I believe. |
Re: Where is everyone?
Welcome back!!!

Re: Where is everyone?
I might be one of the last holdouts that actually likes the look of original SVX rims. :)
Not to hijack, but what impact does the SubieChips chipset have on the trans if any? |
