Yeah the E30 is well known in my country for people who want a fast car cheap. What they do is buy this car (mostly the 2 door as well as the 1980's BMW 745i engine with its trans (that is a TURBO engine) and plug it in.
But note, that this is not a plug and play thing, the front strut towers have to be accurately widened with a hydraulic pressing device (dunno what you guys call it) and the difference in alignment is adjusted with cambers. This is how the 745i engine fits in the E30. Then a strut tower bar and front Bilstein struts. The entire process (without the car) along with the engine/trans intalled costs $2000. You would have a monster :D
