Dropping resistor repair

.
My dropping resistor blew so I looked up my resistor options on my favorite electronics websites, Digikey and Mouser. I couldn't find a ceramic resistor option I liked so I bought a thick film resistor that could be heat-sunk. It can operate at up to 100W if properly heat-sunk at room temperature. I probably didn't need to but I added a TO220 heat sink to the stock housing. I used thermally conductive RTV between the resistor and original housing, as well as around the solder joints. I used Arctic Silver between the heat sink and housing. They are all held together tightly with a 6-32 screw. http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/atta...1&d=1543685104 http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/atta...1&d=1543685143 http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/atta...1&d=1543685243 http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/atta...1&d=1543685287 . |
