A lot...there was a thread with a couple pictures in it a while back. A quick search would probably find it.

It's a royal pain in the ass.
Do it once - and use a brand new heater core as a replacement. I've done it a few times because I was cheap and bought a used core the first time. It can be done in one day your first time. Doesn't require any special tools. Just alot of patience. http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...suby/core4.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...suby/core1.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...suby/core2.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...suby/core3.jpg |

Dang, lol. I work at Volvo, and have seen a number of them done, and they all look like that. What a real pain in the ass for sure. Good luck fixing it man.

Another option is to disconnect it from the cooling system completely and just wear warm clothes

I already have it bypassed, but from the pics it looks like a royal pain in the ass.

I think the steps in the service manual are something like:
1) dismantle entire car 2) remove old heater core 3) install new heater core 4) reassemble in reverse order starting from step 1  |
Re: my heater core took a sh!t
Resist the temptation to use a liquid solution to plug the leak. It will only make matters worse.
It's a royal pain in the ass for sure. But really it's not technically challenging. Just alot of work. Do it right and you'll only have to do it once. |
