making a s/c

im making an electric supercharger, looks like the ones you get off ebay but way better, (dont ask lol) but i just needed to know... should i put the little thing before or after the MAF, and i do have a boost guage so i will try to see if i can get a reading from it..., if it works ill show pics and everything but i dont want to be embarrased if its a P.O.S and doesnt even work...:o

If you can find a hefty 120v blower and run it off an inverter, you might get some good results

cruisen_15 12-08-2007 04:05 PM

you dont know what im doing yet lol, i just need to know whether or not to stick it before or after the maf.....

Sir. Nate 12-08-2007 04:17 PM

I'd say after the MAF.

if you know about r/c cars, then im using a mamba brushless motor, its 8000kv and im using a 3 cell lipo pack with 11.1v,if im not mistaken thats 88000rpm.... and im putting a prop on it and sticking it inside the intake tubing, then i will see if it creates any boost.. if it does, i will put a switch on the bottom of the gas pedal so it turns it on when im at WOT....

Unfortunately it will not create a boost which will increase power, as it is incapable of moving the volume of air required. In fact it will probably create an obstruction.

cruisen_15 12-08-2007 04:35 PM

hmm... i will soon put the prop on, i will make a video of how much air it blows, i tried the prop on a weaker motor with the 3cell lipo pack and it created so much air it was able to knock over water bottles, so i had to strap it down, to a shoe box to be exact... it started to move the box then the prop came off and shatterd... this was with the very weak motor....

cruisen_15 12-08-2007 04:39 PM

off topic but hey, i reached 200 post!!!:D

LetItSnow 12-08-2007 05:35 PM

Where are the prop parts going to go when it shatters in your intake? :(

cruisen_15 12-08-2007 05:40 PM

dont worry, last time the prop came off was because it was my fault, i moved the motor while she was spinning and the prop hit the box, flung off, hit the wall and it shatterd, but i got a new one, and im making sure it will NOT come off or break when in my intake, if it even makes boost that is...

Sir. Nate 12-08-2007 06:33 PM

if I were you I'd put some sort of mesh screen in the intake tube to catch broken parts if failure does occur.

sicksubie 12-08-2007 06:54 PM

This is a very bad idea....... Very, very, very bad...... It does not matter how fast a prop can blow air it does not have the ability to move the volume of air needed to create ANY boost.

Although not a bad idea this will add to the air obstruction that the homemade s/c will likely cause.

If you're going to pursue this, then take lots of pictures, assemble lots of documentation, and anticipate criticism and demands for proof that you've succeeded. With that, good luck!

cruisen_15 12-08-2007 07:44 PM

ok sicksubie.... so when you say my s/c cant move the amount of air needed... right? well what if i used and electric leaf blower and hooked it up to my power inverter?? then would it work??? ive actullay seen a gas one on a honda work but it wasnt even set up right at all....
