Old Mexican bowie knife?
Does anyone know what or where this might have come from? It has a Spanish prayer I assume "Estend en buen Terrano, Solo a mi dios le Temo"
on one side and a desert scene on the other. It originally had a ivory handle which is long gone but the rest is in good shape. Found it in Hawaii about 1982 in a house we had moved into with a Gurhka and a smaller knife made in India. http://svxtreme13.deviantart.com/art...nife-109309722 http://svxtreme13.deviantart.com/art...fe-2-109310893 |

I'll post more pictures but I plan on replacing the handle with a nicer hardwood as the one on it is cracked and not original. It looks hand-forged and engraved. I really dont know what its worth or its age as there is no marks. Im trying to find out if the pommel and hilt is aluminum or silver which might narrow the age down better.

How do you know it is not original? I mean the handle?
I suggest you leave it as it is for now, but try to take more upclose pictures |
Re: Old Mexican bowie knife?
We put a handle on it a few years ago but the original ivory ones are long gone as they were cracked
