Wooden heads!

Tranny tales Part 1:
We have had 32 days of wonderful sunshine so why do I wait until it's raining to split the box? The problem is that the workshop is sort of outside!! It takes nerves of steel to open a SVX box and 32 days of sunshine give you taht strength, also after 32 days you say to yourself " Oh, what the hell!
The oil pan comes off easily and after the shock, I took a flat piece of clear plastic and placed it over the mass of pipes and wires. Using a felt tipped pen I traced each bolt, pipe, wire, you name it onto the panel. Next I drilled 8mm holes onto the panel to receive the bolts and brackets etc. Then I removed the black bolts holding the valve block in place including a couple of bolts that I shouldn't have!! ( no harm done!) Next I removed the transfer case and a small spring and rod fell out - I spent the next 90 minutes trying to figure out how it went back in- bloody obvious after 2 glasses of red wine!! All the gears inside look complicated but I find that they slide out in one piece with a gentle tap of a rubber hammer.

It is becoming obvious that the drum inside is not coming out the back, it is not coming out from the inside ( more wine necessary!)
- the drive shaft has to be removed together the pump linkage to get the end plate off - can't see any other way of doing it??

I then make a simple plate to remove the transfer gear - this works well and the shaft is out - to be continued!!
