True Dual Exhaust
I recently (well about 5,000mi ago) made a true dual exhaust for my svx. I messed up some of the gasket on the stock one when I did the 5 speed swap so I decided it was time for an upgrade.
Its 2.25" from the manifolds back, custom made x pipe after the tranny mount, Dual thrush glasspacks along the drive shaft, dual thrush welded (flowmaster knock offs) in the back. I have since added flex pipes on the straight sections before the x pipe. It was so solid that the pipe (NOT my welds :D) cracked right after the manifolds. It does have tips on it (not in the pics.) I reused the stock flanges and O2 bungs, and there are two more hangers after the mufflers. This, my pedals, shift linkage, and tranny mounts are pretty much the only things I've ever welded so yes, I know the welds are ugly. But, its strong and doesn't leak anywhere so yea.. It sounds really good, nice grumble till 3000rpm then it sounds very wicked. No resonance whatsoever, and its pretty quiet till 3000rpm. http://www.subaru-svx.net/photopost/data/500/photo3.jpg http://www.subaru-svx.net/photopost/data/500/photo2.jpg http://www.subaru-svx.net/photopost/data/500/photo1.jpg |
Re: True Dual Exhaust
Looks good. you should do a sound clip or a vid so we can hear what it sounds like :)

Re: True Dual Exhaust
nice work btw what you doing to that suzuki? tl1000r?

Re: True Dual Exhaust
Nice work. Still using the SVX tips? Or something new?

Re: True Dual Exhaust
Thanks, I don't have a camera anymore so I have no way of putting anything up. I'm just using some cheap tips from advance now, nothing ugly just simple slant cut ones.
I picked up the tl1000r for $1500 laid down, made a new headlight assembly and kind of converted it into a fighter. It runs great its my dd. if there is anyone in/near Tuscaloosa, AL that has a camera and wants to do a clip... or wants to check it out just let me know. |
Re: True Dual Exhaust
I like it. I bet it sounds evil.

Re: True Dual Exhaust
I am considering a true duals, but I am replacing the exhaust from the headers back. I want to eliminate all the cats and do a 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 inch piping. i was looking at magnaflow mufflers. Its hard to try to get a nice tone so what brand would you suggest.

Re: True Dual Exhaust
Looks good man! i can't tell from the pics are you using flux core or shield gas? notice any power gains?
|
Re: True Dual Exhaust
I used shielding gas for the whole thing. As far as performance it seems to rev a little higher before it falls off the cam but it could be my imagination.
I very happy with the way it sounds using 2 (knockoff) flowmasters and two glasspacks/resonators. 2 1/4" piping flows more than enough for a stockish eg33, and 2 1/2" piping id bigger enough to be hard to tuck up high. |
Re: True Dual Exhaust
ok I have absolutely no idea about this sort of stuff, but do I get this right: You have two glasspack mufflers in-line with two standard mufflers, and no cats? Or what?
I'm not sure I could pull that off here without getting a ticket and having my SVX taken off the road (Canada). Did you replace the headers or just attach to the stock? |

Eliminate bends if you can do so without reducing ground clearance. Also take into account that clearance closer to the wheels is less important than that at the centre of the car. |
