Too excited...

I know, I know - I've told everybody a thousand times that I'm doing my first autocross this weekend, but I thought I'd share my excitement with everybody again! :D

Two coworkers, veteran autocrossers, will be bringing their cars - an ESP WRX and (I think) an STS Eclipse GS-T. And I talked another friend (and coworker) into bringing his Impulse RS. Woohoo! I have had fleeting thoughts about bringing both the SVX and Justy and driving both in the autocross, but that's nonsense. I couldn't do that to my SVX.

The Justy's in my garage right now, waiting for me to come home and prep it. And by 'prep' I mean remove all the garbage filling the back of the car. :p I already gave it a once-over while it was up on stands a few weeks ago - everything was ready to go!

I wanted to take it to a muffler shop and have them replace the muffler with a piece of pipe. The muffler has a hge hole in the bottom, so it's not doing anything anyway. Not like the car would be any louder. :p I didn't get around to it.

I also wanted to have it aligned. Ah, well.

Speaking of autocross, here's a photo someone took of me at my last auto-x:

Warning, 2.30MB (It's also my background)

Hope you have fun!

Nice photo - but, believe it or not, I was hoping to see the Justy. :D

Why do you only have a number written on the car? I usually see the car's class after the number.

Earthworm 11-14-2003 04:01 PM

Nobody puts their class on the car. That's all taken care of ahead of time. (registration)

The SVX is in G-Stock. Not sure what class the Justy is in.

I wanted to see the Justy also!!!!!!!!! When did Canada get thier independence from the U.K.? I always wondered why they drive like us in Canada, but they drive backwards in Australia. They were both former colonies.

Well, it's taken care ahead of time here, too. But everybody gets their class stamped on the side of their car so people can figure out who's running against who?

Hey, so I survived my first day. So did the Justy. I'll fill everybody in on Monday after I'm done with day two!

WOOHOO!

Landshark 11-15-2003 09:25 PM

take some pics! good luck and have fun - think of how cool it will be to tell people that they just got smoked by a Justy!

Mr. Pockets 11-15-2003 10:08 PM

I hopefully got a few pictures today. I can't say for sure whether or not any of them will turn out.

The weather was dreadful - 30s, windy and raining all day.

Mr. Pockets 11-17-2003 11:00 AM

Okay, so both the Justy and I survived our first weekend of autocrossing. I'm very proud of my results - yesterday I came in 4th out of 6 in a combined H-stock novice and G-stock novice field, being beaten by only the G-stock novice drivers.

After my last official run yesterday, I thought that I really could not make the Justy go around that course any faster. Then I rode in another veteran driver's Eclipse for a fun run. That one run taught me a lot. I guess I just needed to be taught just how far a car could be pushed. He rode in my car immediately after, and I took 2.6 seconds off my best official run.

Anyway, the Justy is, indeed, competitive. :D I need to knock off a few seconds, but I know I can make up some of the deficit with some decent tires.

Think about it. It would be a little confusing if you were to cross the line into Canada and had to suddenly shift lanes.

Well, that and how long has Canada been independent? Sure, they drive on the left side in Hong Kong - but England only recently gave that back. :D
