1994 SVX Brochure has surprises?

I was thumbing through the 1994 dealer brochure I noticed 3 peculiarities.
  1. Alloys are shown 'backwards' on a Laguna Blue FWD L and on a Pearl White AWD LSI.
  2. Two pics show the side window keeper nubs which were earlier discontinued with strengthened glass.
  3. Spoiler is designated as a dealer option for the FWD L model.

Frankly I think SVXs look refined with no spoiler.

By the way, I recently picked up a splendid 1994 Laguna LSi - it was safetied and licensed two days ago, headlights since polished to a gleam. Digging around behind the trunk liner panels found both tailight access doors and the tool kit & wheel chocks. Over two weeks have repaired broken off driverside mirror, cruise control, ABS, Climate diverter door, trunklid & sunroof re-alighnments and broken sockets for side marker lights.

Only part I'm missing is a gray driverside footwell cover for the fusebox access.

Anyone closeby have one kickin' around? Also could use a good pair of hood lift struts. Using a golf club for now...

Congrats on the Laguna, looks great!

My first SVX ('92 pearl) had no spoiler and I quiet liked it without the spoiler. I Also like my other SVXs which had spoilers as well. :)

All of my research shows that the spoiler was offered as a dealer-installed option only for 1992. All cars left the factory without them. This was a key part of negotiations between Subaru and Giugiaro. For its introduction and first year of production it was to be the way that Giugiaro designed it.

From 1993 through the end of production, the spoiler was standard equipment from the factory for all models.

Factory brochures are sometimes notoriously inaccurate. I have a 1997 SVX brochure with a large photo of a Laguna Blue plowing through the snow. Having never seen one I thought the brochure was wrong. I thought it may have produced earlier and the color was dropped from the lineup at the last minute.

But in actuality there were only 3 documented 1997 Laguna Blue SVX’s produced. Earl Steele knows the owner of one of them and is ready to purchase it whenever the owner decides to sell it

And I totally agree with you about the spoiler. My 1992 Pearlie was wingless and it I (and Giugiaro) thought it was a much cleaner look. The sane with my 1996 Polo.

I encountered a Canadian 1997 Laguna LSi back in 2012. Had the Ebony one about four months, when on the way to work I saw a Laguna one at a neighborhood B&B.
Rang the bell and asked the host to give the owner my number. She called and we arranged to meet the next day before she attended a matinee, which I was crewing.
The grill said it was a 97 and I did look at the door plate. Sure enough, a Canadian 97. Regret that I didn't note the VIN.
She is a Dr from Toronto that bought the car new upon getting her Phd. Norma got vanity plates back when they were inexpensive. Her 6'6" husband doesn't like it and Norma, who probably tops out at 5'1" keeps a special 2" pillow on the driver's seat.
In beautiful condition I insisted she should call me should it ever be for sale. Haven't heard back...yet.
