VIN defined

I was looking at the VIN Number Key and was wondering if anyone knows what the 9th digit was for? My 7th digit (engine type) was a 4 and not listed on the sheet. What model is that? LS? LSI?
Plus my Transmission type code is an H?

JF1CX3437NH105485

Had the car for 12 years now and never bothered to look at the vin. Im putting a few dollars into her (bring her back to fill strength) and was wondering to the codes.

Any info provided would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Adam

Re: VIN defined

A 4 in the 7th digit is an LS model, and the 9th digit is just a "check digit" and has no meaning. And we all have an H trans code, just means the 4EAT.

.

A complete detailed guide to Subaru (and SVX) VIN can be found HERE

Explanation of the "check digit" can be found HERE

5th, 6th, and 7th numbers from the left indicate model: LS model: X34. LS-L (Touring package) model: X35.
