Bay Area Meet III

Ok, I know this forum is not for this message, however that is the best way to reach out to all those folks with SVXes out there.

Most of you probably have heard about the Bay Area Meet, but I will say it again.

Let’s meet up!!!!

May 10th, 2003, Bay Area, Milpitas, Great Mall Parking lot, next to Dave & Busters. More info go to www.svxmeet.tk (although it has almost all the info that I typed, he he)
If you need the directions follow this link: http://www.daveandbusters.com/script...DESTINATION=CA

Anyway, the more the better, previous meets we had only 7 cars total. Lets make it just a little bit bigger.
If you are planning to come, tell me where are you coming from, since if there will be more people coming from one area, then another, then we might move the meeting location closer.
Also, during the meet, the plan to drive is to Santa Cruz, Boardwalk, or may be closer to the beach. If anyone has other thoughts, or want to explore other parts of Bay Area, and California, post your suggestions!!!!

Hmm…….. what is the best way to reach out for people who have already went to the previous meets?

I wish you good luck!
Meets are notoriously hard to organize.
We had 9 cars at ours (see my locker) and I was very very happy.

Wish I could be there.......

thanks

Thanks for the warm though Michelle.

Yeah, I agree, meets are hard to organize. But i will keep trying to reach out to people.

I wish there was some kind of postcard, or some paper which would invite people in, like the one that invites people to this board. I am considering to do one of those, see what i can come up with.

So here are more updates.

If you are planing to come to the Bay Are meet,
please email me and in the subject line, or in
the body of email, include this info: Your name (does not matter
full or not), yahoo, or network name, year of SVX, and region or city
that you are coming from.

For example: Nikita Petrov, zamorush, 94 LSi, Santa Clara.

This is just to see who is coming, and where you guys are coming from, and what time you are planing to get here. And if anyone is coming from far-far away, like LA for example, if you guys want to come later, we can change the meeting time.

Just post your suggestions.

Hey Nik,

I'll be there. I'll even bring a few 'all wheel drive' stickers for everyone. Having them makes it so much easier to make it through the chain check points in the winter.

Cheers,
Matt

hey Matt!!!

Hey Matt!! Glad to hear from you again!!

Sounds good, I'll be waiting for you with anticipation. he he.

Oh, about the "All wheel drive" stickers, they look so cool on the window, unfortunatelly though, both times that i went to tahoe ricently, they did not have snow. I mean to the point where you need an AWD. I am so eager to use them........ he he.

If I missed anyone, please excuse me, or if someone does not want to be their name to be known, or changes in the list, PM me, I will delete it from the list.

So far, I just added people who emailed me. The list is just to know who is coming, what cars to expect.

Oh, yeah, and my new email, subasvx@attbi.com

Cool. Jeff is bringing his "new" SVX. I didn't go to the last meet, so I haven't seen it yet. I guess I'll have to settle for having the second newest SVX. ;) A guy is coming all the way from Anaheim? That's a long drive. I hope the weather will be better by then.

Unfortunatelly Jeff never went to the previous meet. So it is the first time for all of us to see his 97.

where to cruise

Hey all Bay Area attendees,

Nik asked me to put together a little tour of the Santa Cruz Mountains. From Dave & Buster's in Milpitas, we hop on 880 south. Take 280 north to 84 west. 84 takes us up into the Santa Cruz Mountains. We can stop and regroup at the 84 and 35 junction (to make sure that we haven't lost anybody). From there we head south on 35. There is a nice overlook before Page Mill Rd. You get a great view of Moffit Field and the rest of Silicon Valley (good photo op). From there we make a left on 9. About 2 miles in is a small parking lot with another great photo op. From there we can continue the same direction to 236 which goes to Big Basin park through the redwoods and loops back to 9. We can skip the 236 loop if we want. Heading back the way we came on 9, we start heading down out of the mountains to Saratoga. Before we hit Saratoga, we take Pierce Rd to Mt. Eden Rd. Both are well paved twisty roads (not too long either). Mt. Eden Rd ends at Steven's Canyon Rd. After a couple of miles, we hit Montebello Rd and end up at Picchetti Winery.

All that should take a couple of hours (without the 236 loop). Picchetti is a nice winery. It has a picnic area to sit and relax. Dozens of peacocks freely roam the area. The tasting area is in an old barn, so if it's raining, we can still stay dry. They close at 5:00pm. Plenty of parking as there is parking at the winery and at the open preserve next door.

Here are a couple of maps. The first one is a link to a motorcycle site that has some good descriptions of the less travelled roads in the Santa Cruz Mountains. See the attached pic for detail of the last part of tour that takes us to the winery.

Let me know if this sounds good.

Cheers,
Matt

Thanks for your help Matt!!

To me the plan looks great! All we need now is perfect day. It has been raining too much lately, it might mess up our whole meet.

I'll bring a couple of things to the meet. I'll bring some 3M plastic cleaner and polish that has worked really well in removing the yellow from my headlights. I also have some spray-on grey leather dye that I used to cover some wear on my steering wheel. The color matches really well. I imagine it would cover up wear on the leather seats pretty good too.

Two weeks to go. I'll have to give the SVX a good wax next weekend (if the rain ever stops).
