High idle and CEL

WRX 5MT just installed.
It's not the throttle cables.

Shoot me some ideas.

What is the cel for?

For telling you when something is wrong. :P

Re: High idle and CEL

Did you check the ecu to find out why you are getting a cel as in how many blinks do you get :tard:

Lol looks like it's the throttle position sensor, which would account for both things. As I suspected. (Think I might have messed with it when it was out)

To be perfectly honest I did not even think of checking the codes until you mentioned it, hence my sarcastic remark. :tard:

So it seems the only real problem I have left is an annoying clackclackclack when I'm driving which could be the driveshaft. It has been sitting in the junkyard out in the open for WHO KNOWS how long and was kinda rusty.

To make this thread more useful, is there any other reason the rear end of a wrx trans would make a speed dependant clack clack clack sound? It doesn't get faster as rpms rise but as speed rises.

I put the car up in the air, popped it into 2nd and got under it, the sound is 100% positively coming from that area.

Later on I'm going to put the stock shaft in and run it to see if the noise is there. I'm pretty sure there is enough spline to at least grab on.

In case anyone was wondering, the car will run just fine when the TPS is not plugged in.

Actually, what had happened was the wires popped loose because they were just tied together with black tape from the time I removed that Ebay "performance chip" many many moons ago.
