Anyone want a 5-spd Anniversary Edition?

Looks like Smallcar, or whoever ended up with the Smallcar demo is selling it:

I'd love to, but not for that price. Nice car, though.

First off, it was a wrecked car - extensive damage to front of car. My understanding is that they added the whole front clip and has been worked on for quite some time now.

Next, I would be worried about how the transmission would hold up. I don't want to get started on that one - just first hand experience on a few cars that had the conversions done to them there.

That is a very high price for this car even if it is in good shape now.

Sorry for the hijack, Just a quick question for earl. How much, if anything would you invest in a lumped up 93 with no transmission and a slightly bent radiator support. I hate to see it sit and rot in my mechanics lot. It has been repainted also, same color but not very well. Is it worth looking into? I think it has 100k on it.

800 bucks for it if anything

It looks pretty .... they even converted to the 97 non-motorized seat belt...

Is it a problem with the Legacy tranny that's in there, or is it a problem with any tranny swap? My memory fades, and I know people were worried about putting trannies from Legacies and lower Imprezas before (back when there was only 1 or 2 conversions).

I was thinking the same thing about the price... Even with the mods, I would only pay that price if the car was in perfect condition and those were the exact mods I was interested in. Since I actually liked the 92 auto belts, that's a no-go for me. ;)

No, the problem is that SmallCar did the work. I guess you never heard of my experience with them. As a matter of fact, there are several members who had similar experiences with them - all negative. That is another topic though.

If it was good except for the tranny and a couple other minor things, it would be worth $1,000. Maybe less, but I would see what you could get it for. :) :)

I'm sure I did, but my memory fails me quickly... I only vaguely remember the days when SmallCar was the only place you could get a 5-speed, much less the specific details of the complications.

Sorry to hear that, and I wish I could remember that far back.

If that car was that badly wrecked. It will probely also have a salvaged title  $9500  Ouchhhh! Does anyone know about the title?

ensteele 07-27-2005 09:13 AM

I don't know if it gives the VIN, but it could be run.

lhopp77 07-27-2005 09:47 AM

Maybe

Sometimes the VIN carfax does not reveal everything either. My own 94 was wrecked and did $10K damage and was professional repaired by insurance company. No serious structural damage, but costly lights, hood, radiator, power steering pump--etc. Anyway--if you run a carfax on it--nothing shows up. So, I really don't even trust CARFAX to pick up everything.

Another note--I have had some interesting dealings with Smallcarperformance also. Mostly with their new internet guy. Not good experiences.

There's too many ways to hide salvaged titles and such. My uncle bought a Civic from a "married couple" that had a clean record. When he brought it to a mechanic for a service, the mechanic told him the car had been hit hard from the back, and the structural repairs should have resulted in a salvage title. He also later found out that the people he brought it from posed as a couple and weren't really married, they were just trying to act like a family to drop any potnetial buyer's guard.

That's definitly Smallcar. Those pictures were taken in the park right across the street from their hack-shop. Funny, they wont even put their own name on things anymore, being sold by an annonymous. I hope their shop burns to the ground.

PS. everyone should go there and click on the spam button in the upper corner and get his ad banned. lol
