Unless a web-admin changed it, the defaults on vBulletin count the members who've logged in in the past 30 days as active members. But yeah.. that number does seem a tad bit high.

and there are lurkers, and people just looking to sell stuff...

I think it is pretty good considering the production numbers and the number of people that have like 4-12 of them :eek:

Probably a lot of lurkers... I find myself falling into that category on here for months at a time even though I visit daily...

We were at 5,000+ not too long ago, but then a bunch who hadn't been on in a long time got deleted.

thats what I thought, in fact my original post said something like "1999 AGAIN?!!?", but then I thought maybe I was imagining things

I believe about 3000-4000 inactive accounts were purged last year or maybe even before that.
