My car will not start.

I thought it might be the battery and just swapped one in that was fully charged.

That seemed to liven things up for a very short time all the dash lights lit and the car looked like it would start, but when I turned the key it just went dead.

I then noticed the security light on - and went through the process of disabling it with the parking lights on a couple of times.

At one point things did seem to come to life again - but the check engine light pulsed and there was a repetetive clicking sound - then everything turned off.

The car is again completely dead with the replacement battery in it - for a short time I had the barest of light in the ignition light.

I am stumped.

Is there a fault in the security system? Do I have a short in the electical system? Has the engine computer detected somthing and decided to do me a favor?

there is a starter interupt relay located under the dash for the security system.

However, if a known good battery went down as fast as you say, then I think you have a major short in the ignition system, perhaps at the starter itself. Really not enough info to say.

Your checkengine light blinking means, you have some error code on there as well. Try to pull that and see what's happeneing. Seems like something is shorting out in the car though.
