Automatic transmission

Hi everyone ! I have some problems with my automatic transmission. It runs very bad. Do you know where I could buy another automatic transmission ?

Not really (at least not in Europe). Getting it rebuild (assuming it's not cracked the housing or something) would be an option. If it's very badly damaged, then you could hunt around junk yards to find one from another SVX, then likely get that one rebuilt.

Alternatively, you could get a AT from another Subaru, you'll also need to get the matching diff, as the SVX drive ratio is fairly unique among Subaru automatic transmissions. This will change from characteristics of the car, it will rev higher on the freeway, but you'll get more acceleration, and maybe better gas mileage (unless you like the additional acceleration, in which case you'll probably get worse gas mileage).

Good luck!

Do not accept an opinion that the transmission is beyond economical repair without a receiving a specific and technically described reason as to exactly why.

It is absolutely essential that you find a trustworthy, knowledgeable, honest transmission specialist, who will exactly follow the manufacture's instructions and first off check the line pressure. If this is proven incorrect, the most likely problem will be the failure of solenoid "A", which can be replaced at relatively little expense. Much will depend on how far you have driven while the fault has existed.
