Question on a 5 speed part??

I don't know what this part is called:

a shifter pivot bushing perhaps? The bottom part of what is circled is missing from my car, I was driving down the road and all of a sudden my shifter became incredibly loose and this ended up being the culprit.

Any help as to what it is called so I can order one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Question on a 5 speed part??

I just had a message sent to me saying that they can't see the picture but it's showing up fine for me when I go to view the thread. Well what I'm missing is the part at the base that the ball at the end of the shifter assembly lever connects into to. I am assuming it's some sort of pivot bushing for the shifter as it keeps tight shifting when you shift between gears and now my shifter is just loose. I will get a picture of my car's shifter this weekend.

what year/model did your donor shifter come from?? A picture on the linkage would be good too. I can help you find the right part(s) to replace it

Re: Question on a 5 speed part??

The transmission is from a 2004 WRX. I purchased the car with the swap already performed so I am assuming that the shifter also came from a 2004 WRX. I'll obtain some pictures this weekend. Thanks.

Possible answer: Part 35035, "stay" bushing.

My shifter developed a similar problem over the weekend.

Re: Question on a 5 speed part??

If the bushing is missing or damaged that is one thing. It is likely that the snap-ring has come off on the underside.

Where would be the best place to order this from?

Subaru, but like Tom said you might need only/also a snap ring. A picture of the situation would help keep us from giving you advice or part numbers you don't need.
I know I said I had a similar problem, but that's what it was, similar, not the same. After investigation it seems my linkage mount became unbolted. Moral: use locknuts instead of regular nuts on inverted vibrational surfaces.

Yea I understand that. I will provide a picture over the weekend. To give a description, when I pull everything apart the metal circle that the pivot bushing is enclosed in is empty. The shifter lever just sinks down in until it comes in contact with the metal ring. Everything is completely open and seems like the bushing came lose and fell out and left an open hole.

That's odd for a variety of reasons. The stay bushing sits inside a ring in the linkage, which holds it up. Around the bushing are a couple o-rings to keep it snug. Underneath is snap ring to keep it from being pulled out. Inside there is a pivot bushing held in place to the shifter with a dowel. The pivot bushing should fit very tightly and slightly expand the stay bushing. It is difficult to pull out.

For your stay bushing to just fall out it would have had to been installed with no o-rings, the snap ring would have had to have broken and fallen off, the shifter would have to be lifted, and the pivot somehow be forcefully separated from the stay bushing.
Perhaps it was installed improperly.

35035 bushing
35087 o ring
062620210 o ring
031524000 snap ring

35035B pivot bushing if yours is no good
099910190 lock wire if you feel like using one, I don't

I was actually staying down just near Beach Haven for my work when it happened , should have tried to find Tom to help me diagnose it.
