Legacy Tranny swap
Will the tranny out of a 92 legacy awd work for a 4.44 swap?

Is that a possible swap?

Re: Legacy Tranny swap
Yes, just need to get the matching rear end. Also, just to point out, those don't seem to hold up as well as the 4.44s but if you take it easy on the transmission, you may be able to make it work for awhile.

Re: Legacy Tranny swap
Damn. I found a wreck legacy. The guy just had the tranny rebuilt 1500 miles before it was wreck and offered it to me for $500 with the rear end. I just wanted to get a little more in the take off and my rebuilt tranny in my svx is acting funny. Drives fine except when im driving in the final gear cruising. It wants to jump down to 3rd gear. Ill add a little gas and it up shifts. Its really pissing me off and cant no one tell me what it is. Im also concerned about my frond diff. Anyways would it be worth the swap or should I just wait and find a 4.44 tranny?

I would say to find a 4.44, so that you do not have to do the job twice. But it all depends on how you drive it. |
Re: Legacy Tranny swap
Thanks Ill check that out and see if that helps. Yea i really really want a five speed or six speed but thats way out of my range and my capability. I have a full shop to work out of but work that makes money comes first. Its my daily driver and i just cruise it most of the time. But i do go out and play and play hard. I love what the car can do but it has more potential to really move.
