How much different is the handeling in the AWD svx vs. The FWD svx
Cause I have a FWD svx type L and it handels very nice but I want an LSI model
For all the extras and AWD ect. But I want to know if it makes a HUGE. Difference?
All input in appicated :)
I also know that the lsi model adds:
ABS
AWD
Moonroof ect

Re: difference between AWD and FWD svx

It has different power steering than the FWD ones. I think it turns to easy, thats why I like my FWD power steering with my car converted to AWD. Also having a LSi model doesn't you get a sunroof, some LS models like mine have one.

I aggree with you if the wheel turned any easier it wouldent feel the same... :/
But anyways how are you copping without ABS?
How much was it to do the conversion in the fwd model?

I am no expert but I thought the steering in the better models was to decrease power steering the faster the speed to keep the wheel from turning too easy.
At slow or a stop the full power should be the same for all models.

Re: difference between AWD and FWD svx

That could be cause I only have the FWD. Model meaning type L so I woudent know but that makes sence to me. I like the feel as this power steering so I want to stick with it, my main concern was how differicult it would be to do the 4.44 AWD. Swap or do my searching for an LSI model with all the goodies already there, cause currently my type L is in very good shape and I know buying another car might be expensive so I would have to get rid of this one....

L models have better trim anyway. I'd take that gray plastic over the fake woodgrain any day.

My honest opinion, never having driven a FWD SVX, though I have driven many FWD cars both small and light and heavier somewhat comparable to the SVX.
AWD is much better responding, when you corner the rear will power into thus help keeping you from sliding.
Though you will feel you are not experiencing as much power, no tire slippage on hard acceleration.

Yea I understand what your talking about and that's exactally what I'm looking for, but I'm still not 100% sure that will get a AWD model of stick with this type L

How hard would it be to add the abs unit?

honestly I would leave out abs, the tech is almost 20 years old, I think no abs would be better. Or something from a new car.
I really dislike the abs on this car and on my 2000 grand am, but I have to say the abs on this car is better then the abs on the grand am, that car really got the shaft as far as technologically advanced abs.
Both cars suffer from the same thing, a general feeling of spongy brakes and if a real need comes you damn near have to stand on the pedal to stop.
I have a 96 civic with no abs, I added rear disks and that thing will stop quick enough to scare you.

Re: difference between AWD and FWD svx

Yea I think leaving it out would be fine cause I have had some close stops with my svx and it stops quick with minimal skid at the end of the braking, like 3 feet of marks, I will start priceing out how much it will be for the awd conversion and maybe while I'm at it possiblely a 4.44 swap as well...(still considering it but still not sure about the 4.44 swap cause I do a lot of free way driving and don't want to kill the mileage)

What kind of price range should the awd swap be... just don't want to pay too much :/
Does anyone know anyone by bellingham who does good work or will take payment and teach me at the same time(me being able to help)

Thank you for all the great information guys
