FWD light
Just curious (newb)
The SVX that I went to look at this past weekend was absolute garbage. However, the seller keeps texting me, as if to "convince" me to buy it. Nevertheless, I had a question when looking at... The "FWD" light was on constantly (as well as the check engine light)..... He explained it with something along the lines of: "The previous owner wired something up under the hood so that it didn't use the AWD and save gas for the summer..... all you need to do is replace a fuse" That just didn't sound right to me...... He texted me today: "That light is always on, unless there is wheel slippage, Then the AWD kicks in" I have no idea why he is texting me.... The car was a POS... and after seeing it (before even driving it) I'd already made up my mind. Nevertheless, can someone school me on the FWD light please? This is the car.... Just in case you need vehicle years/specs, etc. It "may apply to all years though.. I don't know. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=&ni...iew&ad=1209776 |
Re: FWD light
the seller probably is hiding something seriously wrong in the transmission.
If the car is AWD model, meaning it still has the Rear Diff and driveshafts, then someone put in the FUSE into the fusebox marked for AWD. when the fuse is placed into the empty spot, it changes Duty C solenoid so it will be a FWD car. This is bad to put a fuse there, it should only been done when testing things short term to check for torque bind etc, but not for extended periods of time. RUN AWAY from this seller, the cars tranny will have extensiive problems, not to mention he is a big fat lier. |
Re: FWD light
When you install a fuse in the FWD slot under the hood, you can make your All Wheel Drive temporarily into Front Wheel Drive.
This is for testing or for driving home after you get a flat tire and install the spare tire on one of the front axles. If the light is on all of the time he is mistaken, or trying to hide a problem. |
