It finally happened.........
Today something happened to me that has not happened to me in 13 years, and obviously not since I've had Penny.
This is something that I have expected to happen for some time, especially in the 16 months since Penny was repainted. I WAS PULLED OVER FOR SPEEDING!!!!!!! *gasp* The sad thing is, I wasn't even driving all that fast. As soon as I realized it was a trooper on the side of the highway, I had a suspicion that I was busted. But there was a car ahead of me that was going faster, I kinda hoped he'd go after that one. But I guess I was closer, and I had slowed down to the posted speed limit. He was nice and just gave me a warning (albeit a written warning which is now on my record). I was sort of disappointed that he didn't ask about my car. Only asked me what year it was. But considering the fact that I rarely drive the posted speed limit on the interstate, I count my blessings that it hasn't happened until now. ~~Michelle (now reconciled to driving the posted limit on interstate hwys for at least the next year..... the next stop will be a ticket) |
What did you do when you see the trooper? Did you slam on the brakes or did you just ease off the gas and shift down to 3?
|
michelle,
at least you didn't get pulled over by an office on foot like me. :( |
Michelle,
You didn't find any wood to knock on when we were conversing on AIM the other night, did you? Your situation is *almost* identical to mine: following a gold Ford Taurus. Trooper coming from the other direction and I didn't see him. Detector went off just as he passed. I figured he'd go after the other car, since he was the first to get "tagged" but noooooooo -- the trailing car is much easier. He gave me a *real* ticket, but reduced the speed from 74/55 to 65/55. 111.00 for State Traffic School and a 15.00 fee for the school. As opposed to 135.00 for the ticket. Oh, and he DID ask about my car. :D "What kinda car we have here?" "Subaru SVX" What year?" "'92" "Don't see many of these. Be right back." |

lol.
no. i was driving the claret and there were some slow-moving cars in front of me. i decided to punch it and pass them on the left. as i was passing the second slow-moving vehicle, i noticed a motorcycle on my left sans rider and an officer on foot on my right pointing his radar gun at my car. it was a nice day, so i had all four windows down and the sunroof was open. i clearly heard him yell at me to pull over. he was in the proceess of writing another driver a cititation and when he was finished with the other driver, he proceeded to write me one of my very own. :) |
I haven't been pulled over for speeding yet. I don't know why - the've had the opportunity and I certainly deserved it. :D

Do you truly think that I would be so dumb as to pull the "slam on the brakes" stunt? I did hit my brakes to break the cruise as soon as I realized it was a trooper, but not before I passed him. I figured that I was busted if I was busted, and I wasn't going as fast as I normally do on that particular stretch. Watched him pull into traffic in my mirror, watched him pull into the left lane, figured maybe he was going for the faster car, then watched him pull behind me and hit the lights. Needless to say I'm gunshy right now, and was really good on our trip in UT today. ~~Michelle |

I can't believe this, however, I was waiting for the inevitable. Now this week while we're on vacation, I'm going to have to watch myself.... can't afford a real ticket. ~~Michelle |

Next time I'm in a similar situation, I think I'm just going to f*cking nail the gas and let the sucker in the economy car get the ticket. :\ - Rob |
