One for SVX nerds

Belha found this 'feature' last night by accident. I don't know whether it works on all SVX's or whether something is messed up with our wiring.

Above the rear view mirror, as we all know, are the interior light switches: Left Spot, Door, Room, Right Spot.

Belha discovered that if you hold in the Door and Room switches at the same time then the footwell lights come on! I've never seen that documented anywhere.

i discovered that none of the interior lights, radio, or clock worked unless i toggled the 'SPOT' light.

then i cleaned the contacts in the switches and all is well. ;)

Actually, I just figured out what's happening:

When the "door" switch is closed, the interior lights are connected to the "door open" circuit along with the footwell lights.

So when you press the "room" button to apply power to the interior lights, it also powers the "door-open" circuit. Hence, when the "door" switch is on, pressing the "room" switch will have the same effect as opening the door.

Rather obvious when you think about it.

Phil.

What I can't explain is why my seatbelt becomes slightly looser when I start the engine and tighter when I turn it off (some sort of pretensioner device?)

Nor can I explain why the radio cuts out for half a second when I press the seat belt eject.

If now i could only find out, why my drivers side seatbelt keeps me locked in if i forget to open my door BEFORE i shut her down. Im getten into a better habit of opening the door before i shut it off , but still bugs me when i forgett & have to turn the key back on to get it to move ( only the driver's side does this & im fiarly certain it shouldnt.)
If any-one has an idea as to why let me know ;) thx Gar.

Well, you're right, it shouldn't do this. Unfirtunately, I have no suggestion for why it would.

I recommend posting your problem in the tech forum.

Also I've noticed if you get out of the car and close the door with the svx running and then take the key out the alarm will not arm until you open the door and close it again.
