A little knowledge is a bad thing -screwed up need help

Ok guys. Drivers side window went down, now it won't go up. Did a search found out you could put two wires on 12 volt drill battery and, depending on how you put the wires +-, the window goes up and down by bypassing the window controls.
Took the skins off found what looked to be the right clip (and inserted wire) attached to battery sparks and strong acrid smell of burning electricity near passenger side. oh oh
Checked the battery and notice it's 14Volt lithium not 12 volt. Now motor on passenger side does not seem to work.
Question: did I burn a motor (probably) or just a fuse???
Car is in service station now to get window up because it's going to rain..
Should have taken it there from the first place damnit

sounds like you just chose the wrong 2 wires. your car voltage is around 14v when it is running. hopefully you just blew a fuse.

That's probably what happened.

My electrical puts out 14.5V at startup every morning and has a normal operating voltage between 13.6-13.8V. Never an issue with electrical components. You shound be fine.

Most modern alternators put out between 14-14.6v to charge and maintain your 12V car battery.

when it rains it pours. ok service station got the window up $122 later. Robbery but what are you going to do. Do tonight when I went to go home from work car would not turn over enough to get it going. A couple of weak cranks and it's dead. Got a boost but on the way home I noticed that the door light on the passenger side was on and would not shut off. No doubt the reason why my battery died. pulled the lightbulb after trying everything to get the light off. I can't imagine that touching those two wires with the battery (on the drivers side of the car) could have caused that problem but I can't figure out anything else....

I have a feeling you may have done some damage to the time control unit, located behind the glove box. Are any other lights acting normally (keyhole illumination, dome light, map lights, under dash footwell lights, etc) which normally go out after a set interval, affected?

No I have not noticed any problem with the other lights. Dome lights seem to work fine. Not sure about the foot lights but they are not staying on. When I pulled the door light everything was dark last night. BUT that burning smell I was getting certainly smelled like it was coming from the direction of the glove box or at least that side of the car. So maybe you are right.
