SVXCESS in Hospital

Hi Folks,
Everyone knows SVXCESS (AKA John Hoffman). Just wanted everyone to know that John had a mild (thankfully) stroke yesterday and is in the Howard County General Hospital (Room 206B) :( . He seems to be doing well :D , but he is still having some balance issues and can not walk quite right at this point. But the pronosis is good.
If you have a chance, give John a call - the number in the hospital room is (410) 740-5921. I don't have the address of the hospital.

Here's wishing John well!!!
Harry

Holy cow. Thanks for keeping us informed Harry. Sorry to hear about John's situation, but knowing him, he'll recover in no time - and be back to cleaning his SVX to its spotless glory! :)

Thanks for letting us know.

I met with svxcess in reading III long time ago. He is one of

Harry,
Double ouch!! Any details as to what John was doing when it happened? Has Ron made it up to see him?

Have the address there for him or how long he's expected to be in for?

:( It's 10:30 Sunday PM, & this is the first I've heard about it. I'll call him tomorrow, & probably drop by the hospital after work Monday.
I'll let all know how he's doing.

Ron.

Ben,
I don't have the address for the hospital, but it is the Howard County General Hospital, Room 206B - I haven't looked up the address yet. I will PM you his personal address.

John didn't have any idea how long he would be there, but I suspect (and hope) not long. This seems to have been a mild stroke.

SVXCESS: OUT of hospital!!!

Well, to my surprise I was finally released from the hospital today. I seems I had a very small clot at the base of the brain stem which was the culprit. No warning whatsoever.

I had been up for about three hours on Saturday morning, making coffee, on the network, etc. I went back to by bedroom sat on my bed for about 10 minutes. When I got up to go into another room and ran into the foot of my bed. went into another room and when I was returning I walked into the left side if my doorway. At his point I knew there was something wrong with my balance and equilibrium. No matter how much I tried to walk a straight line, I kept veering to the left and my balance was affected. Sort of like taking a walk after downing a 12 pack; all of the symptoms and none of the fun.

I went to the emergency room, was admitted imediately and the the tests started coming. With a barrage of arteriograms, EEG's, EKG's echocardiograms, CAT scans, MRI, MRA, and whatever else, they completely checked out all of my systems.

Amazingly, it seems that nothing else was affected... no muscle weakness, numbness, no impairment of speech, hearing or sight. Coordination and dexterity are all fine. I'll just walk with a cane for a couple of weeks while I retrain my left leg muscles to do what I want, plus PT a couple of times a week as an outpatient. Prognosis for a complete recovery is excellent! Lower the cholesterol and triglycerides a bit with medication, aspirin, and a small dietary change and all should be well.

My heartfelt thanks to my family here all for your best wishes and your concern. Coming home and reading these posts was definitely a morale boost!. Thanks to mssvxrocks, who gave me a call last night to inquire on my situation, Its nice to have people you have never meet, and may possibly never meet in person, expend the time and effort for you. We had a nice, lenghty chat and it was most enjoyable.

Anyway, I'm back and raring to go.
