havin trouble with the Crohn's

Has anyone tried Remacade for Crohn's or ulcerative colitis. im in the swings of a flare up that has left me unable to stand errect(to those who dont have IBD imagine someone stabing you in the lower right hand side of your gut about where the apendix is and multiply by 10)

right now im on pentasa 4 caps four times a day. and i also take fish oil capsols.

Can't help you on the Remecade Matthew. but I can empathize. Seems I'm one of the odd Crohn's sufferers to enjoy full recovery after a small bowel re-section waaaay back in '72. I can still remember what it felt like to be doubled over and unable to straighten up. I hope your flare up burns out quickly. :(

yeah i had a resection 3 years ago. removed about 2 feet of my illium. i had the colostimy for a year before they could re attache my. i can imagine how people live without a colon and have a colostomy their entire lives. those people are real survivors.

I don't have Crohn's, just a really bad case of IBS.

Have you checked out this place?

with a lot of the digestive disorders...diet can make or break you. did you dr put you on some type of special diet to help control the symptoms? drinking alcohol and smoking really put a hamper on your tummy. sometimes stressful situations can bring on a nasty flare up of IBS. maybe on top of the medications, you should try talking to a specialist about diet and such. i don't know much about the meds that he prescribed you, but i can surely look them up if you want. webmd is a great site for q and a's

sorry about the pain you are in

My Buddy since about 5th grade(say 40+ years) on has been through some 20 surgeries in the last 5 years and now has the bag permanently. They've finally tucked everything away in a "pocket". He's an inspiration to me. Just keeps plugging along, but miserable and unable to work at anything without some pain & suffering. Guess it beats the alternatives. :(
