rubbing brake drum mounts
is it common for the rear rotors to warp to the point were they rub the drum brake shield in the back of the assembly. has it happened for anyone

Re: rubbing brake drum mounts
More than likely the flimsy dust shield is bent or rusted to the point of rubbing. If your rotor was that warped you would have violent shaking under braking.

Re: rubbing brake drum mounts
+1 to that opinion. I just replaced my rear rotors and they jammed solid against the backing plate due to rust. The old rotors had worn to accommodate the rust over the past 5 years, but the new ones had more metal. Some selective grinding and smacks with a hammer got the clearance I needed back, but I'll be replacing the backing plates eventually to fix things the right way. If you pull the rotors off you should be able to see rub marks where there's been interference.
