BMW 850 (formally idot racers)

I suspect that they don't see an SVX as a Subaru, something more exotic perhaps. I mean, it's not much of a stretch to think she's a BMW 850.

To even consider going up against a BMW V12 would be sheer insanity.

I mean, there are some VERY striking similarities. Even down to the rear wheel well treatment.

What is even more similar is that BMW could not sell them either at three times the price of an SVX. Skid pad numbers on the SVX were better, the 850 was at .78. But they did offer a 5-speed.

Agreed. The arch above rear wheels is practically identical.

Anyone know what the hp and performance (0-60, 1/4 mile) numbers were for the BMW 850's?

That looks a lot like that one Bimmer I saw last year but couldn't identify.

Actually, since 1991 I have seen probably 6. How I knew what they were was when I lived in the SF Valley and there was one up on a rotating stand at the BMW dealer...had to look. I had already seen the SVX, but those 850's were outrageously priced !!!

Another thing it has in common with the SVX: It's a boat.

...but it's a damn sexy boat.

Ahh, the 850...

Easily my favorite bimmer (that and the old M6  ).

There's a guy in my neighborhood back home who did a custom twin-turbo setup on his 850! It’s just plain crazy!

Some models (CSi) were also available with a 6-speed.

OK, John, you can knock me out a couple "H-12" decals. Gold & black, of course. Gotta' keep up with the Schultzes.

Ron.

Those races were held under controlled conditions (ie: the track) right. We wouldn't want to close another thread for street racing I hope.
