Drive shaft un balenced?

I converted my car to a 5spd, and used the small car basic install kit, so iam using the drive shaft extension. When ever i go above 70 MPh there is a pretty bad drive train vibration, i think my engine taps the hood . what do you think it is, is it a unbalenced drive shaft, becasue of that stupid spacer, or is it something else. Isent the 2 gen legacy 5spd drive shaft spose to be the righht lenght? Thanks

If the vibration is coming from the front end of the car (e.g., engine tapping hood), its probably not the driveshaft. From experience with my SVX, an unbalanced driveshaft will be felt from about the middle of the car and further back. Maybe a bad CV joint or unbalanced flywheel? Seems to me that Earl (ensteele) had a similar problem with his SmallCar 5MT swap, and it turned out that the spider gears in the front diff failed, and then the chips floated around in the tranny and totally killed it.

I have a bad driveline vibration at over 70mph and I'm using their driveshaft spacer also. I would like to eventually have a custom driveshaft made.

cant you use a 2 gen legacy drive shaft?

It could also come from loose tranny to engine bolts.

Its too long. Its about 1 mm from being bottomed out on the tranny tail piece. Not much wiggle room.
