The sales brochure

Our new friend Kristen not only has the 6 service manuals, he also got the original sales brochure. I will try to scan it tomorrow and post it here.

Meanwhile, this 91/92 brochure makes interesting statements:

* VTD-4WD has 35/65 front rear distribution
* ABS and VTD are interconnected through "the computer": 'Each wheel is equippmed with its own speed sensor and control valve [4 channel ABS]. The data obtained from each wheel is processed by the computer, which then issues independent control instructions for the front, and rear wheels simultaneously. At the same time, control is exercised over the E-4AT and VTD-4WD systems. When the ABS is activated, torque is distributed to maintain an optimum balance between the front and rear wheels, ensuring running stability even in low "mu" conditions such as ice covered road.'

I will post my scan as soon as possible.

The available colours in 1992 were:

249 Silver Metallic
222 Dark Grey Metallic
235 Black Mica
947 Mica Ruby
265 Dark Red Mica
267 White Mica

That description leaves a lot out, and infers that the ABS wheel sensors are connected to the gearbox. I have added the bits left out. :)

* VTD-4WD has 36/64 front rear distribution
* ABS are interconnected through "the ABS computer": 'Each wheel is equippmed with its own speed sensor and control valve [4 channel ABS]. The data obtained from each wheel is processed by the ABS computer, which then issues independent braking control instructions for the front, and rear wheels simultaneously. At the same time, control is exercised over the E-4AT and VTD-4WD systems. When the ABS is activated, the gearbox changes back to 3rd gear, torque is distributed to maintain an optimum balance between the front and rear wheels, ensuring running stability even in low "mu" conditions such as ice covered road.'

Re: The sales brochure

Just quoting the brochure, Harvey. It says 35/65 everywhere.

Then again, it was written by marketing people :)

"It says 35/65 everywhere." Except in the WSM.:)
That is the problem when 'marketing people' talk about technical data, that they have no knowledge of.

What does the "mica" mean on the paint colors?

It is the best looking dark red on an SVX.
Not available in the US, if memory serves right, only in Europe (Switzerland and Germany).

Search the forum, I am sure you will find few pictures of the Mica SVX.

"mica" is the termed used abroad instead of "metallic"

Color 265 is known in the US as Claret (1992 only) other countries used Crimson Mica and dark Red Mica for the same color.

Color 247, known as Swiss Ruby Mica, is also called Red Mica. This is truly a beautiful color, more of a pearl than a metallic.

Mica is pearl. Metallic is metallic.

Evidently, they offered Suby Mica here too.

Took me a short while to realize I was looking at several Claret SVXs.
I think the wheels on the last picture are very complimentary and bring the car up to date. The original body design is of course, timeless...

Every one of the photos I posted is of the Swiss Ruby Mica, not Claret. Including these two below

My ex had an '89 "ruby mica" GL 5-door, so that description was used in the U.S. in some instances. And yes, it was a beautiful color.

Say Jetboy. Any chance we're going to see this Sales Brochure scan in the near future? No anxiety but please don't think there is no interest out here.

The SVX is such a remarkable vehicle that any paper ephemera is desirable.

I have one as well, but it's missing about 4 or 6 pages and has a fold down the middle. It was in my glove box along with a ton of dealership papers from when the original owner bought the car.
I'll scan it tomorrow and see how it turns out.
