'White Album'

Saturday night we showed 'Pearly', Rosie's 94 SVX, at the Chesterbrook Cruise Night. It was located in Chesterbrook, PA about 5 miles south of Valley Forge.
We were in the 'White' section. There was a white and blck Bricklin parked behind us. A white '64 Caddy convertible was on one side and my buddy Tom's white '70 Dodge Challenger on the other side. There was an early model white Camaro behind him.

Our SVX had white rims and a blck nose bra. It really glowed, with all the cleaning and waxing that I had done to it. Once again I forgot my camera, stupid me. Tom took som e-photos of us and the car. I will post them when he sends them.

The show had only about 60 cars because this was the weekend for the big shows at Macungie, PA and Corvette weekend at Carlisle, PA.
There was the usual T-buckets, duce coupes, some Corvettes, 50's Chevys, etc.
The most interesting cars to me at this show were the aforementioned Bricklin, a stock Studebaker Avanti, and a brand new Ford GT-40.

I've always liked the Avanti...or any Studebaker for that matter.

I'll be going to car shows for the next 3 weeks straight:

This weekend I drive 3 hours to a show in Dauphin, MB for the 3rd year in a row. This is an awesome show with excellent entertainment.

The week after is the largest show in MB with 800+ cars.

Finally the week after that one is a Subaru only show at the dealership.

Now if I could only get some of the local SVXers to show up.

Ford has not built a new GT-40 in decades.

I think he meant the new Ford GT. Which, even though I can't stand Ford products, is incredibly sexy.

DavieGravy and I went to a car show in Golden Co (home of Coors beer :) ) a couple of weeks ago. There was a white Avanti on display, absolutly beautiful! Even the body style does not look dated...

There were some AMX's tht looked pretty good also...

We are going to The British Conclave Auto Show on the 18th of Sept. to check out the Sunbeam Tigers, Jags, Austin Healys etc...

LarryIII 08-31-2005 05:09 AM

I stand corrected. It was not the GT-40 but Ford's brand new GT which is modeled after the old GT-40.

There are 3 car shows coming up in our area soon.

One of them is Radnor Hunt in Radnor, PA. It is the Pebble Beach of the east. We intend to vist it this year (showing cars is only by invitation). My boss's XKE won its class at this show in 2001.

The second one is at the Hagley Museum in Greenville, DE. This show is open to cars 25 years old or older. Hagley is the site of the original DuPont gun powder manufacturing works on the Brandywine Creek. Many of the original buildings are fully restored.

The last show is at Faulkner Pontiac on a Friday night. They have a section for newer cars (ricers) and we will show Pearly there.

Tomorrow, I will post times and dates.

I bought the white rims with tires, used, from an SVXer in Florida about 2 years ago. I usually run them in summer on SVXY (92 SVX).
I bought the black nose bra, used from an SVXer in CA during this past winter. I had it on SVXY for the last 2 weeks. Rosie liked the look so much that I mved the rims and bra over to Pearly (94 SVX) for the show at Chesterbrooke.

I will say this, "Keeping the white rims clean is an absolute b...itch."

Larry, Larry, Larry,

Car looks clean indeed, but I'm not a fan of car-bras: unless they
are hiding paint damage. If they are not hiding it; they will create it!
Did people know what your car was?

Larry,
It's a shame they didn't put you next to the Bricklin. It would have showed good old Malcom where he went wrong when he got out of the Subaru business. If only there was a white Yugo left somewhere in the world!!

We will be showing Pearly at Faulkner Pontiac Cruise Night on Fri., 9/09/05 at 5:00 PM. It is located on US rte. 3 in West Chester, PA; if anyone wants to come by.

The Radnor Hunt show (Pebble Beach of the East) will also be this weekend. Fri., Sat., & Sun., 9/09,10,11/05. I believe it is $20 to get in to see the cars. I was told that proper dress is required (no zebra stipes, Randy).

The Hagley Museum car show (Greenville, DE) is Sunday, 9/18/05 from 10:00 to 4:00. I think it is $10 to see the cars.

Rosie has also informed me that there is a Cole Hahan (expensive shoes & handbags) trunk shoe at her girlfriend's store on Friday and Saturday (/16 &17/05, in Greenville, DE. I think that my wallet is gong to get alot thinner.

Pearlywhites,

Thanks for the advice. Pearly is a 'garage queen'. there are no paint chips on her hood (wish I could say the same for SVXY). The bra only gets put on her when she goes to a show. It comes off when she returns to the garage. I also detail the hood and bumper before I put on the bra.
I have included another photo from Chesterbrooke (Looks like I need the bra more than Pearly).
