Replacing the plugs, help?
Where are the Spark Plugs on our car? I am having a really hard time finding them. Can someone point me in the right direction???
Bosch plat. +4 going in but can't find the plugs, and we don't have wires to follow... Point me straight.. |
They are under each coil. On each side of the engine there should be 3 plastic boxes. These are the coils. Remove them and you have access to the plugs.

Just an additional note. Most folks are using the NGK's specified as OEM which are platinum tipped. The "advantages" of +2, +4 , adinfinitum have been well discussed here and on other Subie boards. Most agree the NGK's seem best suited to our motors/ignitions. Check How-To Documents/Engine/Sparkplug replacement. A word of caution to be careful with the coilpacks and wiring. They're EXPENSIVE to replace.

Agreed...German plugs in a Japanese car...EEK! NGK is the way to go.
Spend a little time getting the right extensions for your ratchet, when removing the plugs. I use a Sears Gear Ratchet, Low profile 3/8" ratchet with 1" and 3" extensions. I never have to do all that remove the wheel / access hole crap. |
Spark Plugs
There is a write-up in the How-To Documents section. I'll see if I can post the link.

Installed Bosch +4's yesterday. Seems to run just fine. Used access hole in wheel well for drivers side back plug since I was swapping tires anyway, but after removing both rubber grommets to do the same on passenger side the access hole was not open clear through, but blocked by metal, weird.
